"Wanted to run smarter than last year and did. Took the first 800 meters or so pretty easy and hit mile 1 in 5:43, picked up the effort a tad in mile two and hit 5:39 and then came home in 6:11 which was just a tad faster again. My leg turnover was fine, the speed wasn't too fast there. However my lungs/stomach had the burn and while I felt like my legs had more in them I couldn't push that any harder at the end. Overall a much better race than last year's 17:44 and 17:35 here feels better than my PR on the pancake flat Embarcadero course."
